 DCC Club Highlights

  • Great Miami, Stillwater, and Mad River Guides

The Club prepared a guide to the Great Miami River. It includes information on launch sites, dangerous areas, dams and portages. Guides to the Stillwater and the Mad Rivers are planned as well.

  • River Traveler Certificates

The Club will award a certificate to any canoeist who completely navigates the Great Miami, Stillwater or the Mad River from its headwaters to the canoe club in one season.

  • Messabouts

The Club will host "messabouts" on the evening of the third Wednesday of each month. At these gatherings members and guests can work, play, drink coffee, sand, paint, try a sailing canoe, ogle a classic wooden canoe, learn a new paddling stroke, make fun of aluminum boats, share stories, plan trips......golly, you name it and we'll do it, or lie about how we've already been there and done it! Come on down to a messabout!

  • Building, Repairs and Restorations

A number of club members are involved in the repair and restoration of some of our wood and canvas canoes. There are also some who are building new canoes. Contact the club if you are interested in these activities.

  • Sailing

More and more of the time we spend in canoes has been "under sail" in the past few years. Sailing is coming around again in the DCC. Want to get involved in this sport? Call the club.
